I’m extremely excited to announce that “Bastrop: A Community in Recovery” is now sponsored by The Austin Film Society! This is a great opportunity to make this film successful. It provides the use of their non-profit status, allowing for applications to film grants which requires such status. Find out more information about the Fiscal Sponsorship from AFS. This also allows for any individual donations made to the film to be considered tax-deductible. Austin Film Society provides numerous services to filmmakers from fiscal sponsorship to film screenings and I’m proud to have them sponsoring this project.
So what’s next? The next step is to continue pursing funding for this project. We will be looking into many film grants, as well as requesting individual donations. AFS will be setting up a page for donations to be submitted on their website this week, and the link to that will be made available here.
As far as pre-production, I met with the Bastrop Film Commission two weeks ago. Research has been completed, and the content pieces of the film are all ready to move ahead. I have a long list of names that will be contacted to recount their experiences and tell the story of Bastrop and it’s future.
Check out some recent photos taken while touring a small piece of the damage in Bastrop.
